Hello!
Reviews: First of all if you are new to discovering Practical Patch you may wish to read a few reviews. The first four years of Practical Patch were under a different domain name linked to Trustpilot. (.co.uk now .com) By clicking here you can read what my good customers had to say. Lead Times: My plan for the end of 2024 and onwards is to work daytime hours whilst my two children are in FT education. I used to work morning, noon and night and whilst I will make the exception to do so again in the School holidays, for the remainder of the year I need to stay disciplined and keep a routine. At checkout or elsewhere on this website you may read the words 3-7 working days for production, dispatch and delivery. This is quite accurate for larger orders. Braided Cables take the longest, I rest them for 24 hours before finishing the braid etc. Things like custom patch cables, speaker cables etc etc They will be done and dusted pretty quickly so expect them sooner, especially as they will fit into the post box at the end of my street!
Custom Order Shipping: Postage is paid for in full by the buyer. Whilst this may appear obvious at checkout, a lot of my customers reach out direct to order and as a result I have to deliver the price in full regularly. Thankfully I have a good knowledge of the Royal Mail’s services both nationally and internationally and as a result will not overcharge you for shipping.
Big Shipping: As I am not expecting a hundred orders a week I haven’t any contracts with any couriers, not since lockdown 2020 that is. So let me tell you how I will handle any heavy or large orders. I will either 1. Send in multiple Royal Mail packages all fully insured or I will 2. Arrange a Courier to collect from myself and drop off to you again, fully insured to the value or your purchase. From experience, I would suggest that with a large or heavy order be prepared to spend in the region of £10-20 on shipping.
Pedalboard Wiring: For 2024 and towards spring 2025 I will not likely take on any serious wiring jobs due to poor physical health. I’ve got quite a bit of weight to shift before I can stand over a pedalboard for hours on end without damaging my back (again!) That said don't be afraid to reach out. Whilst I won't have time to furnish you with loads of advice I would appreciate advanced warning on your intentions to have me wire your bored and if I decide I can do it without breaking myself then you may get seen a bit sooner.
Pedalboard Advice: Wether you are getting me to wire it or not. Rule number one is spend your money on the best power supply that will suit your pedals requirements. Even if that means waiting a little longer to get a certain pedal you are after. The power is the foundation along with cabling, you simply can’t scrimp on it. For what it’s worth, I like Cioks.
Payments: For 2024 onwards I am keen for all payments to be processed through this website. Wix Payments takes every major credit card including American Express and also provides the option for Apple Pay. Other than people checking out I also want all custom orders to be paid through the website by using the custom order listing on the website. I will also accept Bank Transfer which might I add, many people have been happy to do historically. I expect all payments to be paid upfront and in full before any work will begin on your order. If I am still doing this when I am 70, I’ll get you to pay once your order is complete incase I drop dead but until then, no money? No workie!
Reverb: What happened to your Reverb Store? It was my choice to have my Reverb store shut down, I was really busy at the time and felt that if I got rid of it I would stop thinking about how to utilise it. A stupid idea in hindsight as If memory serves from the one to two years on there I managed to get about 99 five star feedback reviews from all over the world. That’s right, Practical Patch is on at least 4 continents! Anyway, via google the ghost of the Practical Patch Reverb page can still be seen, so if you’ve ended up there and now here. Then now you know the story!
Warranty & Returns: all Practical Patch products are sold as bespoke making them non-refundable as your customisations are unlikely to be precisely what someone else could want to purchase. That said should any issues arise with your purchase in any time frame then I want you to let me know about it so I can identify the issue or make a repair. I've now sold thousands of cables and can barely count on one hand the number of issues there have been as a result of my own work producing my products.
So do you offer a Lifetime Warranty?
I have to admit, I am absolutely sick of seeing small independent makers claim they can offer a lifetime warranty. I’ve already seen a couple now in the cable world come and go that offered just that, a Lifetime warranty but where are they now and what about the day we're dead!. Who is gonna repair your cable? An 80 year old man in a nursing home? I don't this so! Okay so what's my warranty! Well it's this; so long as I am alive and in business then I've got your back. I know what can go wrong and if it's my error then will fix it. If it's a component issue then I'll sort you, simple!
